An Ad a Day #6

Lately I have been hearing more and more reports about children in Africa being accused of being witches. It makes me sick. I think there needs to be more awareness. I tied it to UNICEF just so there could be an entity associated with it, and they help children. I kept messing with whether or not to say “Witch” or “Not a Witch” or “Witch?” but I didnt have time to play around with it.  I wanted to use a more chunkier font, but I was using the computers at school and they don’t have that many choices.

COMPANY: UNICEF

PRODCUCT: Nigerian witch problem awareness.

An Ad a Day # 5

As some of you may know, I have a podcast. During this ad a day series I started to wonder if I should do an ad for the podcast. Today I woke up and decided to go through with it. I spent a lot of time concepting and kept being drawn to being killed by how good the songs are. As in, when you hear a song that moves you so much you say, “this song is killin’ me”. That lead to the idea of “Vinyl Victims”, since so much of what we play is recorded from vinyl. I took this shot of a “dead” person covered with records that have been played on our show. The rest flowed from there. I toyed with putting the words “vinyl victim” somewhere, but thought that was a bit too much.

I almost didn’t get this one done in time, in fact, I find it sort of a cheat.

This is a radio show out of Seattle that I listen to called Too Beautiful To Live. I created a billboad for the show. The reason I feel it is a cheat is because I essentially just recycled their graphics into a board. But hey, what can I say? I had family in town today. It’s Saturday!

I was busy today but spent most of the day trying to come up with a concept for the ad. I picked the company from a stack of my wife’s mail. When I saw it I knew it was going to be a billboard. So here it is….

Company: ING

Product: ING investing services.

It could be placed on a bench (though probably not in front of an abandoned hospital. )

I found out that this is more difficult than I anticipated, but it truly is good exercise.

The concept for this ad is that Bang & Olufsen earphones are so good, it is like actually having an orchestra in your ear. As I started laying out the ad, I was having a hard time getting an orchestra in there, and with time constraints (getting the ad up by 10 pm the same day), I cut the orchestra to to violin players.

Company: Bang & Olufsen

An Ad a Day #1
November 13, 2008, 12:59 am
Filed under: An Ad a Day

Well, as I mentioned before I am posting an ad each day for at least the next week. Here are the rules.

1. I must find the product on the day I post the ad

2. I must develop the concept that same day.

3. I must design the ad the same day.

4. I must post the ad on this blog that same day.

This means the ads will either suck, or the design will not be fully fleshed out, or they will be great.

Here is the first one. I ran out of time to really make the tire nice (as you can see), but the concept is there. Check it out.
