I went trendy and got myself a fixed gear bike.

I immediately took it for 10 mile ride that night with my friend Matt. Of course, we rode to the Meanwhile Bar and had a $4 pitcher of PBR

and then to Checkers

Not exactly the most healthy of places to go, but it was outside and fun.
I will be writing a lot more about riding this bike.

Do you use muxtape? I just started using it myself. It is a nice way to send a friend a mix to get them through their day, share the music you are listening to, etc..
I made this mix for my friend in Bay City, MI
Muxtape is pretty fun to use.

I didn’t even know they were dead. A few years back I did wonder what happened to Eagle Snacks because my mom used to be an Eagle Snack freak, to the point of buying enough Eagle Snacks to fill a car-top carrier and driving them from Florida to Michigan before the were available in Michigan. Most of the brands listed in this article I assumed still existed. Nuprin, Brim, Salon Selectives, etc.. I thought they were still on shelves.
New York Times “Can a Dead Brand Live Again?” Article. (you may need to sign up for an account on NY Times. If you dont have one, you should.)
I was trying to to compile a list of “dead brands” i want to see brought back, but they all seem to be still alive or just about to be brought back.

I just finished a long night of redesigning my site. Its up and ready for business.
I was inspired by Chicago train maps that I had, the idea of taking people on a journey through my work rather than just having them look at a list of my work seemed more appealing to me. I plan to ad more interactivity using flash, as soon as I know how to.

I had an interview for the internship. that I worried about in this post.
I think it went well, if nothing else it was informative and good practice for dealing with advertising companies in the future.

As I was saying before, Nike is quickly becoming my favorite brand for shoes/sportswear. This is just some more reasons why.

Well, I have this nagging feeling I may have screwed my chances of getting an internship with an agency that I really wanted to work at. This is why; I showed up twice at the agency. Both unannounced.
I showed up once and the owner was in a meeting. I left my card. I returned home and immediately sent him an email. He responded asking a follow up question. I responded. The weekend and a couple days went by and I did not hear back.
Today I decided to stop by the agency again. I wanted to put faces to the email addresses, both mine and his, and show I was serious about interning at his agency. I got to meet him face to face, shake his hand and just let him know I am serious.
I could not tell if he was annoyed, but he was in the middle of something. He said he would call me later and reiterated that he was in the middle of something. I told him I understood and that I was just stopping by for a formal introduction. He asked me to email him to remind him that I stopped by.
I then went home and immediately sent him an email. I apologized for dropping in while he was busy, and once again explained that I felt email was to impersonal, I just wanted to put faces with names, and that I was serious about this internship.
So, is dealing with just email too impersonal? Is it wrong to stop by for an introduction? did I screw myself out of a good internship?
Maybe I am worrying too much. But I got to tell you, advertising agencies are a completely different animal than I am used to dealing with. So many different quirky personalities and so many different company “cultures”. The healthcare field was uniform (and boring), but I knew how to deal with each company, there were no differences. Don’t get me wrong, going into advertising is a lot more fun and exciting.

Nick of Highsnobiety.com interviewed jeffstaple about launching the Starter Black Label.

I will be interested to see how this relaunch plays out without the sports licensing that Starter once had.

Nike and Finish Line have teamed up to create a runner specific store.
Here are the questions I have:
1: Is Finish Line known as a brand that has specific insight into running culture? Basketball, not running comes to mind.
2: Why would Nike team up to create this concept store and then allow other brands to be sold in the store?
