West Michigan Ad Fair Creative Crawl

This year the West Michigan Ad Clubs (Ad2, GVSU Ad Club, etc…) put on something called The Ad Fair. A week filled with advertising related events.

Last night was the Creative Crawl, which I attended. Several advertising agencies in the Grand Rapids area opened their doors for people to stroll around, take in their work, make connections and all around get a sense of the advertising work that is being done in the area.

I took some pictures and had a great time…..follow along.

When I got to the first place it was a little awkward because I was the only one there who was not employed by an agency, but in time more people showed up.

First stop was Hunsberger-Stap .

Really nice people. I didnt take too many pictures because I was busy talking with everyone. Susan, Roger, Roxie, Jordan, and a really nice girl whos name escapes me but she has a fish named Petey, were all really nice and welcoming. I had a great time there. Even though Roxie decided to get insulting at the end. (jokes!)

Designer workspace

The next place I hit was Hanon-McKendry . At H-M the tours were pretty much self guided, and  they had an awesome office.

Nice little work “pods”

I really loved the conference room. They had samples of their work laid out throughout the office, it was nice to get a close up look at their work.

Atari.

Obligatory foosball table.

I also visited  Grey Matter Group.

They had great food, good beer, and a great set up for hosting an event. They had all their work on display and spoke about the process of creating it. I must thank Nicole for showing me around, answering my million questions, and making me try out all the comfortable furniture.

The Creative Crawl was definitely worth going to. I am disappointed that I did not make it to the other agencies, Extra Credit Projects and Palazzolo Design. I spent way to much time at every agency. Next time I will make it to all of them.
